Staff & Doctors

Riccarton Clinic has a large workforce and needs one to fill its roster, being open twelve hours per day and every day of the year. With twenty six doctors, thirty six nurses, six support staff, sixteen receptionists, five administrators and two managers it's a big team but one which works hard to remain approachable and friendly.

Doctors (GPs) - most of our doctors have a group of patients that they see regularly and work closely with to manage their health concerns. In addition all of our doctors take it in turns to see walk-in patients so if you come in on a cold, winters afternoon you may see your normal GP or you may see a doctor you haven't met previously.

GP Registrar - Riccarton Clinic has been a GP training practice for many years. It may be that you see one of our GP registrars in an appointment. GP registrars are qualified doctors with experience who have chosen to undertake specialist training in General Practice. They are supervised generally by senior GP's within the clinic and have a particular training relationship with their GP trainer. Those doctors that are GP Registrars are shown on the listing of doctors on this page.

Nurses – some of our nurses come from a background in acute medicine, some from a background in general practice, but within a short while they learn the other aspects of the role at Riccarton Clinic. Some develop a particular interest in a chronic disease and become nurse educators in that field, others become involved in delivery the orthopaedic services.

Our Reception team are likely to be the first face you meet and the one you say goodbye to when you leave. They are also the ones you will deal with on the phone, they take over 400 calls every day.

Riccarton Clinic is owned by five doctors; Dr Angus Chambers, Dr Alistair Blomley, Dr Jason Pryke, Dr Alisdair Webb and Dr Gareth Norton.  All five work in the practice.
