Dr Margriet Dijkstra

Dr Margriet Dijkstra was born and raised in The Netherlands and graduated from the Medical University of Groningen in 2001.

After many years working in orthopedic surgery in the Netherlands she went in 2014 to Hosanna, Ethiopia to volunteer in their local hospital for VSO, a NGO to support and change knowledge of trauma care. As she enjoyed working overseas Margriet decided to go to New Zealand to explore the country and work in Palmerston North. After falling in love with the beautiful country and the life style. She decided to stay and worked in hospitals in Palmerston North, Blenheim, Dunedin and Christchurch, before started at Riccarton Clinic in November 2018 to chase her career in general medicine.

Margriet has a lot of experience in orthopedics and trauma, but enjoys general practice.

When not working hard she has a passion for the outdoors, activities such as tramping and mountain biking as well as just sharing a cuppa with friends and family.
