  • Cervical Cancer Screening

    A woman’s best protection against developing cervical cancer is having regular cervical smear tests, every three years is recommended. A cervical smear test is a screening test to find abnormal changes in the cells of the cervix. Having regular cervical smears can reduce a woman’s risk of developing cervical cancer by 90%.

  • Minor Surgery

    Riccarton Clinic has a dedicated room in which to perform minor procedures. Typically it is used following accidents to perform wound closures, with or without sutures, but the room is also used for the removal of minor skin lesions such as moles and other skin blemishes.
    A related service provided is biopsy allowing samples to be sent for investigation.

  • Spirometry

    Spirometry is a test that can help diagnose various lung conditions, most commonly chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Spirometry is also used to monitor the severity of some other lung conditions, and their response to treatment. At Riccarton Clinic we conduct spirometry for our own patients and others that are referred to us by other practices or by employers.

    Influenza, commonly called the flu, can be a serious illness that is sometimes fatal. Influenza immunisation prepares and boosts your immune system to help you fight the influenza viruses circulating each year. Get immunised early before the flu season starts. The vaccination is free for those people most at risk.

  • ACC Treatment

    In addition to being a General Practice, Riccarton Clinic is an Urgent Care Clinic accredited by ACC. Accidents resulting in injuries of a non-urgent nature can be discussed with your GP during a normal booked consultation. You will have available the full range of services in injury diagnosis, treatment and management as if you presented as a drop-in patient.

  • After Hours and Outside of Hours

    Like all General Practices we are required to provide after-hours support for our patients. The difference with Riccarton Clinic is that we are open during many of those times that other medical centres are closed. For those times that we are closed we provide a telephone triage service that will give health advice and can connect you to our on-call GP if necessary

  • Community Outreach Nurse

    Riccarton Clinic, supported by Christchurch Primary Health Organisation, provides an outreach nursing service targeting under serviced high risk patients in addition to routine general practice services. The Outreach Nurse may be referred to you by your doctor.

  • Ear Suction Clinic

    Microsuction of an ear canal is the cleaning of an ear canal using gentle suction and instruments. At Riccarton Clinic this procedure is carried out by registered nurses under direct vision using a ENT microscope. The procedure is safe and most patients find it more comfortable than ear syringing.
