Our mask policy

A surgical face mask is required for anyone over the age of 5 to enter the clinic, covering your mouth and nose. Please ask one of the Greeter Team at the front door if you require one. If you have a fabric mask on, you will be asked to swap for a surgical one.

  • Working with us

Riccarton Clinic aims to achieve Employer of Choice status. We work hard to make it easy for team members to stay and we rarely have people leave. If they do it's normally because they leave Christchurch. We aim to have an open, supportive, colleagial environment and recognise that whilst work is important, work is not all there is to life.

More than two thirds of our current team of 120 are clinicians. Riccarton Clinic can provide excellent support to clinicians that want to work in a colleagial environment and gain exposure to a wide variety of clinical experiences ranging from acute medical and injury through to chronic disease and palliative care.

Doctors remain self-employed contractors but work within a team environment with the direction of two Medical Directors (one for General Practice, one for Urgent Care), ably assisted by the owner Doctors. The majority of the Doctors have Fellow status with the RNZCGP or RNZCUC. With education opportunities each fortnight, remote access to Medtech and rostered working Doctors can have the benefits of regular work whilst retaining the ability to take time off when they want or need.

Our nursing team are all members of the NZ Nursing Organisation and are employed under the Primary Healthcare Multi-Employer Collective Agreement. A Nursing Manager and three Senior Nurses oversee the team, assisting you with planning your portfolio and ensuring that you gain experience of all that we do – at your pace. We have a large number of Health Care Assistant positions to support the nursing team.

The administration side of the business will expose clerical and reception staff to new technology, modern business systems and an environment in which your diligence is rewarded. Furthermore we recognise and value the important contribution which the customer-facing staff make to our patient's journey through our facility, you are often the first person and the last person that a patient interacts with as they pass through.

We have an emphasis on lean ways of working and encourage suggestions for improvements from our team.

We have a modern, well-designed and well-equipped building. It's construction meets 100% of the New Building Standard so there are no concerns over its strength (if you're worried about earthquakes).

      Experienced GP - Full-time, Permanent

Riccarton Clinic is seeking experienced an GP for a full-time role in a busy Christchurch City General Practice and Urgent Care facility.

We cherish our family atmosphere retained from origins as a small community practice. We now exceed 18,000 registered patients and operate a 12-hour walk-in service 8:00am – 8:00pm seven days and are looking to expand our team with a GP that would be looking to work half-time Urgent Care.

One evening a week and one weekend a month is our only out of hours commitment with generous remuneration and terms including paid lunch and admin times, flexible rosters, and awesome peer support network. Full orientation is provided to the clinic processes and Canterbury quirks, but a working knowledge of Urgent Care practice and General Practice work is essential.

We welcome any interest and happy to show interested parties our dynamic facility. Please email your interest to generalmanager@riccartonclinic.co.nz and we will contact you directly to discuss this role.

    • International Doctors

Deciding to make the move to New Zealand can be fraught with decisions and difficulties with paperwork. For that reason many clinicians engage the services of an agency, partly to assist with paperwork, partly to assist with finding work. However, many practices are put off engaging a clinician through an agency because of the cost and lack of assurance with longevity.

Riccarton Clinic welcomes applications direct from clinicians and is well-versed in assisting with all the paperwork necessary to become eligible for work in the NZ health sector.

Furthermore, for doctors, we have a large number of Fellows of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and these easily meet the supervision requirements of the college. Two of our directors have met the criteria for teaching under the College's GPEP scheme and we have the capacity for two GPEP trainees each year.

Several of our nurses used to work in the United Kingdom and Australia and are very familiar with the transition to working in the New Zealand system. Some things are comparable, others we think are better, and none stay still – we are always changing, always developing, always seeking improvements.

With our striking, modern facility; regular group meetings; intranet resources; enthusiastic team members and support from colleagues you could not find a better 'landing point' than Riccarton Clinic.
